Before and after pics linked here.
My skin: Oily and acne-prone, hot and humid climate
AM:
  1. AHAGlow Face wash: On my second bottle! When I first started using it, I immediately saw results- dead skin, blackheads, and whiteheads peeled right off my skin. After almost six months of use, I still see these effects whenever I use it. I haven’t been using it much in the winter as it feels drying, but it’s the perfect summer gentle exfoliating face wash. WRP.
  2. Innisfree Aloe Revital Soothing Gel: Apply it on damp skin, it’s so hydrating! My face felt super plump within days of introducing this into my routine. It’s not sticky and absorbs very well. Super soothing on irritation, I use it after facial hair removal and it quickly calms the skin down. WRP, HG.
  3. Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum: I love this stuff so much! It’s just a basic hydrating serum, and it is SO good at it. It’s made my skin glow in a way I never believed was actually attainable. It surprisingly also reduced my skin’s sebum production. It is very watery and lightweight. I don’t like how it feels when applied on its own, it becomes sticky and tacky, and feels like it’s just sitting on top of my skin. WRP, HG.- I mix the above two together (50:50) and apply them as a single layer.
  4. Natures Tattva Rose Water: The latest addition to my routine. I bought it just for the mist bottle, and I didn’t expect it to do wonders, but I can actually see and feel the difference in my skin whenever I use this. My face feels softer and there is an improvement in the persistent texture on my cheeks. Hate the smell though, it’s very sweet and lingers for a long time. WRP.
  5. IPCA Acne OC Moisturizer: my dermat prescribed this to me, and it quickly became HG. It’s so lightweight but creamy, and moisturizes incredibly well. It’s light enough to use in hot and humid summers but also feels sufficient in the winters. A little goes a long way, a 10ml sample tube lasted a whole month. WRP, HG. -On days I'll be getting sun:
  6. Ponds Non-oily Sunscreen SPF 30: lots of mixed reviews about this product, I like it. It’s creamy but feels light on the skin, and any white cast settles within a few minutes of application. My skin doesn’t get greasy with this on, even hours later in the afternoon under conditions where it usually would. WRP.
  7. Bello Photostable Sunscreen SPF 40: I’ve been using this since 2017, still enjoy it! No white cast, non-greasy, moisturizing. It is creamy and slightly thinner in consistency than the Ponds. I think it’s the most reliable in terms of UV filters on the market, so I use this whenever I leave the house. WRP. -Both these sunscreens are moisturizing, so I skip moisturizer when I use them. However, I have tried Ponds with moisturizer underneath, and it doesn’t feel heavy despite the layering. Have not tried Photostable layered yet.
PM:
  1. Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser: My HG! Have not used anything else since I discovered it 4 years ago. It’s just a basic face wash, does nothing more than cleanse, and I like that! Foams just the right amount. It has never left my skin feeling stripped. WRP, HG.
  2. Retino-A 0.025 for 30mins - 1 hour (Rx only): Short Contact Therapy has worked incredibly well for me, I faced no irritation or purging at all.
  3. Wash again with Cetaphil
  4. Mist with Rose Water
  5. Layer of Innisfree Aloe Gel and Green Tea Seed Serum (lately I’ve been misting and applying a second layer because of winter)
  6. Mist again
  7. Acne OC Moisturizer
  8. Nioclean Clindamycin and Nicotinamide Gel (Rx only) on any spots or congestion: I love this ointment, whenever I feel my skin is congested, or see a breakout, I apply a thin layer of this. When I wake up the spot is gone, or at least feels like it’s healing.
Additional products: (used occasionally)
  1. Avene 3-in-1 Makeup Remover: Very meh. Removes dirt and makeup well, but feels like it absorbs into my skin before I can wipe or wash it off. The smell is unpleasant. I use this when my skin feels dry or irritated, its creamy texture is very soothing and moisturizing. Makes me want to try their Thermal Water Spray. WNRP.
  2. Plum e-Luminence Simply Supple Cleansing Balm: Basic balm cleanser, no-frills. Heavy fragrance. Cleanses well, but leaves a film on my face and hands after I emulsify and wash it off, which makes my 2nd cleanser hard to use. WNRP but worth a try.
  3. Disguise Cosmetics Rainbow Glow Oil: this was one of the only products in my daily routine last year, and helped heal a bad breakout and hyperpigmentation. It’s a very lightweight and soothing oil! Now, I will add a drop of it to my moisturizer at night on dry or irritated skin days. I always have a bottle of this with me! WRP.
  4. Cerave Moisturizing Cream: I wish this worked as a moisturizer for me, but causes CCs no matter how little of it I use. However, it is BRILLIANT at healing scabs, itchiness, irritation, and burns. It healed a bad scrape on my face in 2-3 days! (It is my mom’s holy grail for this very reason, she’s been through so many tubs of it in the past 5-6 years). WRP!
  5. Peroclin Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide (Rx only): I prefer this to pure BP. Very strong and effective spot treatment!
  6. Metrogyl Gel 2% (Rx only): prescribed for rosacea, it is very effective. Also heals textured skin and acne.
Lip balms (I’ve been a lip balm enthusiast for as long as I can remember! These are my favorites for generally dry lips + tret dryness):
  1. Vaseline Cocoa Butter: a classic! I’ve been liking this with tret. I apply a layer of this before bed and exfoliate my lips in the morning. Dead skin sloughs off so well. WRP but this tub also seems never-ending.
  2. Burt’s Bees Mango and Ultra Conditioning: this one is so efficient. I love how my lips feel when I apply it. Mango is delicious! The Ultra Conditioning balm lasts almost 6-hours without needing to reapply. Makes my lips super supple. WRP.
  3. Palmers Mint and Cherry: I use these for the SPF. I love the shape of the applicator as well. The tinted lip balm is the perfect rosy shade! WRP the tinted lip balm*. WRP* the mint if I can't find a better lip SPF.
  4. Ted Baker Vanilla: It’s a thicker balm, but not sticky at all, and the littlest amount is sufficient. WRP.
  5. Frank Body: my absolute holy grail, I have used this under the harshest winter conditions, and it has stayed on my lips and kept them moisturized without budging for almost 16 hours. It is a thin lanolin-based formula with no petrolatum. Forever RP and HG.
  6. EOS: I had a big eos phase a few years ago, and still have so many piled up from then. Works well on damp lips to seal in hydration! When applied on dry lips I feel like it makes them feel drier. WNRP but definitely still love them.
  7. Noreva Aquareva: I used this while on isotretinoin. It’s a thick formula and works so well! It heals and soothes chapped lips, and is very moisturizing. Smells so yummy. WNRP, too expensive.

Dry Skin Level-Up Tip

Hey ladies! As it gets colder and those of us with dry skin start to get scaly and ashy, I figured I'd share my best tip for dry skin. If you hang out on skincareaddiction, you might have heard of "slugging" or "slug life." This is kind of like that, but it's more focused on your body.
What You Need
And the steps go as follows:
And now, FAQs
Why do this?
I have very dry skin with mild/moderate eczema and I have all my life. I've tried every moisturizing product you can imagine. This technique was actually recommended to me by a dermatologist. Admittedly, she only recommended putting the Vaseline on my eczema spots, but because of where my eczema is, that's often most of my body anyway. At that point, I'm already applying it nearly everywhere, why not just keep going? So I did, and it makes a HUGE difference in my skin. No more itchy winters!
Why Vaseline? Can I use coconut oil/cocoa butteetc?
I recommend Vaseline because that's what was recommended to me. It's dirt-cheap. And there's nothing else on the market with the occlusive properties of petroleum jelly. The point is to seal in all the moisture. You don't want any of it escaping. Petroleum jelly is absolutely the most effective thing for that. I've tried it with coconut oil and baby oil and the results just aren't quite as good. (Also, baby oil was even messier.) But you can try it. Your results may vary, though.
Vaseline makes lotions, can't I just use that instead of using two different products?
I've tried that. It doesn't work as well. If you really need deep moisturizing, you need the humectant lotion followed by the Vaseline.
Doesn't this feel gross?
Yeah, a little. I think it's kind of a pleasant, almost hedonistic sensation, though. You get used to it pretty quickly.
How often do you do this?
As often as you need. You could, hypothetically, do this every day. I do it once or twice a week in the winter, and maybe twice a month in the summer, but I also have a skin condition I'm trying to keep under control.
Does it clog your pores/cause bacne or chest acne?
It actually has the opposite effect for me. This is way more effective at keeping back and chest breakouts at bay than any products aimed at acne control for me. Petroleum jelly is non-comedogenic, so the only issue would be if the thin lotion you're using causes breakouts.
This is gonna stain my sheets.
Maybe, depending on what kind of sheets you use. If you use silky/satiny sheets, you might wanna get a set of cotton sheets for nights when you do this. If it leaves any spots on your sheets, they wash out of cotton pretty easily. It's also why I recommend footy pajamas. When you do this with socks/pants, the pants might ride up in your sleep and expose some greasy leg.
And a few more pro tips
Let me know if you try this, and let me know how it works for you!

Curious if others have similar experiences with shaving leg hair and rashes/bumps? Does lupus have anything to do with it?

I recently saw a post asking about red rashes on their legs and if others get something similar. I do, and this got me to thinking about my legs, lupus, and shaving.
My skin has always been very sensitive, mainly due to eczema and allergies. When I was diagnosed in 2018, I joined a few communities to learn more and noticed that others have had similar rashes and such that I assumed were just always a part of me. For example, the leg rashes and butterfly rash.
So I’m curious if this issue I’ve had for a long time is something possibly tied to lupus or if it’s just me. No matter what I seem to do, my legs always break out in red rashes and hives after shaving. For the next two days, my legs are so unbearably itchy and break out in small bumps (almost like acne) which scab over. The spots take forever to heal, weeks, sometimes MONTHS.
Now, this is something I’ve dealt with for a long time and have just accepted it to be part of my life, but again, I’m very curious if there’s anyone else in the community that has a similar issue, and if not, maybe some good advice?
I tried switching to an electric shaver for a while and it helped with the rash/hives in the beginning but I still broke out with itchy bumps once the hair started growing back, again with spots/scabs that lasted forever.
I’m allergic to nair and most of the shaving creams I have tried. I have tried various body washes, lotions, and even conditioners to use while shaving, and my hives reaction is not as severe, but ending result is same.
For after shaving: Many creams and lotions irritate my eczema or cause a reaction so I only have a couple I can actually use. However, I’ve tried a lot of top creams and lotions (Nivea, Eucerin, Aveeno, etc.), vitamin e oil, body butters, coconut oil, Vaseline, cocoa butter, ointments, anything with the word “eczema” in it, etc., etc., you get the point.
But no combination has EVER resulted in “silky, smooth, legs”. It’s embarrassing so I don’t wear shorts or anything that shows my legs. It’s a miserable cycle of wanting to shave my legs because I hate having leg hair but also not wanting to go through the 2-3 days of itchy hell and rash only to have to shave again.
Any attempt to get outside advice is the typical: - you’re not shaving right/too hard/too fast/whatever - you’re not moisturizing right/enough
But I’ve tried soooooo many combinations and even things like: - shaving with only water (ow) - barely touching my skin with the razor - cold water, hot water - reapplying lotion every hour - no lotion - so much lotion/ointment/oil that I was a literal slug ^ to the point I’ve ruined clothes by staining them. Vaseline anyone?
Really stinks, and I almost don’t want to post this, but I’m curious if anyone else in the community (or out) is dealing with something similar. Could lupus be a contributor?

How To Un-Fuck Your Legs: The Complete Guide [Hair Removal]

How To Un-Fuck Your Legs: The Complete Guide [Hair Removal]

Products You'll Need

What it is and what causes it

You can find a complete guide to identify the type of issue(s) you're experiencing with hair removal here bu you're most likely dealing with the following issues:

  • Ingrown hair. If you have thick, curly hair what often happens is your hair has a difficult time growing back out of the follicle after you shave. Instead, it wants to curl in on itself under the skin while the skin keeps growing over it. This gives you dark, discolored dots and bumps all over your skin called strawberry legs.
  • Rashes. This is a skin irritation that occurs and causes an itching and burning sensation and may show up as a bright red rash. This can be caused by using a dull blade, bacteria from your razor, soap that's drying out your skin, not using enough moisture when you shave, shaving too aggressively, having ingrown hair, or just having sensitive skin.
Note: If you have dark hair, shave, and don't have bumps, the discoloration is likely caused from the root of the hair showing under the skin because your hair is dark. Waxing will help because it pulls the hair out from the root.

Step 1: Freeing the Hair

There are two main layers of skin. The top layer is made up of old, dead skin cells, while the bottom layer is newly formed skin cells. After you removed hair in the past, the bottom layer of skin started to build up over the new hair growth coming in trapping the hair follicles inside.
Your legs will look like this as a result:
https://preview.redd.it/4agk7p77x9o31.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65d1a9ab6f2da5c3fe4f275b00a88875ed18d2ef
If you took tweezers to those spots, you'd likely pull up a strand of hair that's been curling in on itself. But don't do this. It will damage your skin and can cause bacterial infections, scarring, and what will likely happen is the skin will just grow back over the area again.
If your legs look like the picture above, the first step is to get rid of the layer of skin on top of the hair so you can start fresh. You can't do this over night or you'll damage your skin. This is a process that takes time, especially if this issue has been happening for a while.
The first product you need is Ingrown Go. Ingrown Go works like those exfoliating foot masks by drying out the outer layer of skin so it starts to peel like so:
https://preview.redd.it/ynb1fu88x9o31.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=d659db4abf0284fb04ce6ae52afd2c5a9ff2fe57
You'll need to apply a lot of this and with gloves so your hands don't start to peel. As your skin starts to peel, use a gentle body scrub and washcloth (korean exfoliating bath washclothes are great) to get rid of the dead skin. Then, for hair that's still trapped use the exfoliating brush.
Beware of scrubbing too hard or exfoliating too much (don't exfoliate more than once every 3 days) as this will exacerbate the issue by irritating the skin and causing microscopic cuts and discolored scarring. Usually it takes about 1-2 weeks of using this product morning and night to free the majority of the hair depending on the severity.
After this, you no longer need to use the product regularly. It'll dry out your skin. Instead, you your focus needs to be on keeping your skin hydrated and getting rid of dead skin as mentioned under Step 2.

Step 2: Lotion the fuck outta your legs daily and exfoliate weekly

After this process, your skin will be super dry. It's important to keep the skin moist and pliant so that hair can easily grow up through the follicle instead of becoming trapped again. I personally love Vaseline's Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Body Lotion with pure cocoa butter. It delivers an insane amount of moisture to your body without being greasy unless you use too much. Try to lotion your legs at least once a day. This is the most important step and I can't stress enough how important it is to avoid hair getting trapped under your skin.
Another product I really like is Benton's Snail Bee High Content Skin Essence. It's a Korean skincare product for your face but it's insanely effective at softening your skin, especially if you have some stubborn spots that hair doesn't seem to want grow up through and keep having to use Ingrow Go on.
In addition to lotioning, you'll want to exfoliate. Dry brush your legs at least twice a week with the exfoliating brush. And exfoliate with a body scrub at least once a week to get rid of dead skin you might have missed while bathing. Be careful not to over-exfoliate because it aggravates the area causing more ingrown hair.

Step 3: Hair Removal

Before removing any hair, exfoliate your skin the night before. This removes dirt, oil, and dead skin which helps prevent bacterial infection, unclogs your pores as well as lifts the hairs so you're tugging on them less which gives you a closer shave and irritates the follicle less.
Which Is Better: Shaving or Waxing?
There's no right answer. Everyone's body is different and both can cause issues. When you shave, you create sharp edges at the end of the hair strand that makes it more likely to curl into the skin. However, while waxing completely removes the hair from the follicle, you can't guarantee that it won't curl back under the skin when it grows back.
I've personally had less issues with waxing and prefer waxing as it lasts longer, I have dark hair that shows up under the surface of my skin, and I tend to get less ingrown hair from waxing.
Shaving
When you removed hair in the past, you were likely pulling up skin in the process causing razor burn and for new skin to grow up over the damaged area. So, it's important to create a barrier between your skin and the hair removal tool.
Odds are shaving foam won't be enough of a barrier for you if you've experienced these issues. You need something thicc. Shaving lotions are an option but what I've found works best for me is hair conditioner or lotion. The latter tends to gunk up your razor but usually leaves your legs feeling better.
Be generous. Razor burn and razor bumps occur when you've improperly prepared your skin for a shave and irritate the newly formed skin.
The kind of razor you decide to use is up to you. For some people with sensitive skin, it helps to use one blade to avoid irritating the skin. For others, a men's multi-blade razor gives a better shave because it gets closer to the skin and drags on the hair less.
Never use a dull razor if you're experiencing ingrown hair. This will drag on the skin and pull at the hair damaging the skin around the follicle and and make it grow up over the follicle again.
Pro-Tip: It's usually a good idea to change your razor weekly. To clean/preserve your razor blades and prevent rust, coat the blade with an oil after you use it like olive oil, baby oil, or vegetable oil.
Waxing
As mentioned under shaving, when you removed hair in the past, you were likely pulling up skin in the process causing razor burn and for new skin to grow up over the damaged area. So, it's important to create a barrier between your skin and the hair removal tool.
Use cornstarch, baby powder, or a makeup powder so the wax only sticks to the hair, not your skin. Veet legs and body wax strips sensitive formula are great for beginners to see if waxing is the right choice for you. Also make sure you're following the natural path your hair grows in just like shaving.
Pro-Tip: Aloe Vera oil will help sooth the skin after waxing.
Aftercare
Thoroughly lotion your legs every day after shaving. Remember, the goal is to provide as much moisture possible so the hair can come back up through the follicle when it finally comes back up instead of getting trapped.

Step 3: Getting Rid of Discoloration

If you've had a lot of ingrown hair in the past, odds are there will be some scarring and often the scars leave behind hyper pigmentation. Self tanning lotions and whitening lotions can help to reduce the appearance of these scars . Even if you have dark skin, Jergen's Natural Glow Moisturizer works great at evening out the color of your skin and has a really natural color. Avoid your knees when applying this lotion. Make sure to use gloves when applying this product so you don't discolor your hands.

[WTS]/[WTT] Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller (ref: 126660)
Update: Wow I was not expecting this response. I don't deserve gold or platinum, but thank you so much for thinking that highly of this post!
I've had a lot of offers and I'm still wading through them. I appreciate every single one (yes, even the guy that offered $2k and a fake Omega hahaha) as communicating with other watch addicts is part of the fun.
OK this is the 5th (and likely not final) attempt at posting this today. Apparently, I either can't read or the directions to posting on this sub mimic that of low cost Swedish furniture. Or, the bots just don't like my brand of humor, which would run in parallel with my mom's opinion as well.
Anyway. I picked this up from a local AD 3/31/19 here is my TIMESTAMP.
It's an amazing, technically advanced watch but I want something different and if we're all being honest here, even you will probably get bored of it in 30 days, too.
I refuse to sell you on this watch because it's not for everyone. It's a big fucking watch. A watch that wears every bit of 44mm, 17.7mm in height and 7.5oz, which is coincidentally the same weight as the Vaseline you might be using daily.
People will see you and say "Wow! That's a big ass watch!" and you'll be like (hair flip) "I know right?" as you hop in your lifted truck with the steel balls hanging off the hitch.
You're a man, damnit.
The reality to living with the Deep Sea is that you have to like big watches and James Cameron movies (even Piranhas 2) And under no circumstances should you have a dainty little wrist or it will snap in two from the sheer weight of half a pound of 904L steel and overpriced Swiss engineering stressing your already weak radius and ulna.
One day you could be chilling at Jamba Juice and reach out your hand to grab your large Caribbean Passion Smoothie from the overworked part-time employee and BAM. Just like that, broken. People will laugh, your family will question your manhood and that's just embarrassing.
A thicker wrist would have suited you well. You'll need at least 7" to ride this ride, unless you're Charlize Theron because she has a [removed at mod request] made of VVS diamonds and could fist Chuck Norris and wear him around.
This DSSD has been worn daily for a month with very few faint marks on the clasp and one on a bracelet link and none on the case or crystal. It looks very close to brand new and if I was an Olympic judge I would rate it a 9.8 of 10 just because I'm picky and your hair was out of place when you tried to stick the landing.
The majority of the time I try to wear it with long sleeves just to keep it covered to avoid scratches and the harsh reality is that's a bitch move. I don't have the balls to wear this thing the way it's intended and I sure as hell don't dive. I'm essentially a poser, it's sad to admit. "Hey where's a good place to dive, man?" - "Well, I just got back from your mom's so I could recommend that spot..."
This watch comes with everything included from Rolex AD. The ugly green box, the 5 year warranty (in my name), 2 links to fit my 7" wrist. Hell, you can even have the bag of unopened Caramel Sea Salt chocolate they gave me. They gave me 2. I ate the majority of one while I waited for them to remove some links and raid my bank account for $12,250 for the pleasure of buying new.
Now that I think about it, no one offered me alcohol. I got a bag of chocolate. You know what? Fuck it. I'm keeping the bag of chocolate to remind me of how little effort the Ben Bridge sales associate put into customer acquisition.
I can trade +/- depending on what you have. I'm pegging trade value on this at $12,250 (MSRP), and cash price at $11,750. Not interested in low ball offers and I definitely don't need to sell. If it doesn't sell, I'll focus on becoming less of a pussy and just let this watch do what it does. While I won't likely take up diving, and definitely not to the depths this is rated (12,800ft) I won't let door jambs and Macbooks rule my life.
It's a step in the right direction. Baby steps. Manly baby steps.
TRADES: Interested in certain Nomos, Breitlings, Omega's, Rolex and Panerai's +/- cash. The watch must be single-owner, AD purchased, and have a full set for a trade. Ideally the watch will still be under factory warranty as well. Well, I mean, if we're talking ideal then you'd have a BNIB 116500LN you'd be willing to let go straight across, because even you realize that a 2x markup is insane.
Right? No? Ok then.
Ideal trade that's more likely to happen would be a Speedy Sapphire Sandwich, Explorer 1, Polar EXP 2 or PAM 237 Ghost. Definitely prefer Automatic In-house GMT's if given the option, but open to cool trades. And by cool trades I don't mean your underwear or a lifetime supply of black licorice. As enticing as those may be, I prefer to keep this watch related unless you have awesome motorcycles, domains or profitable apps/websites.

Also make sure to exfoliate at least once a week to get rid of dead skin you might have missed while bathing. And don't over-exfoliate because it aggravates the area causing more ingrown hair.

Self tanning lotions can help to reduce the appearance of these scars. Even if you have dark skin, Jergen's Natural Glow Moisturizer works great at evening out the color of your skin and has a really natural color. Avoid your knees when applying this lotion. Make sure to use gloves when applying this product so you don't discolor your hands.

[Review] Mini Reviews of everything I've purchased skincare-wise this year + salty regrets.

Like many others, this year was the year that I delved into my attempt at taking care of my skin. My interest started when I began a seasonal position at Lush in October of last year. Though I don’t use any of Lush’s skincare products now that I no longer work there (I don’t get that 50% discount anymore RIP), it definitely opened the door to me wanting to care for my skin.
I’ve gone through quite a lot of products this year and I’m honestly afraid to even think about how much has been spent, but in the process, I discovered a lot about my skin. Like how it’s suddenly sensitive as hell, dehydrated, dry (though this one I always knew but didn’t do much about), Bare Minerals products break me the fuck out, I get hormonal acne, and I’m prone to CC’s in my forehead and PIH.
I’m still in the process of finding what works for my skin and my wallet but, here’s this year’s roundup of products I’ve tried and my thoughts on each. This will definitely be a long one. I’ve broken it up into what my different routines have been this year. Did I look through all of my online orders on amazon and target to recall what all I bought this year? Maybe. My original routine prior to my delve into skincare:
  1. Loreal Go 360 Clean Ideal Clean Deep Facial Cleanser For Sensitive Skin - My first official cleanser that wasn’t bar soap. I honestly was probably better off sticking to bar soap. This stripped my face so bad and I thought nothing of it. It always left my skin so tight and “squeaky clean.” The pH level is probably high as hell too but I just popped it on a shelf in my hallway and move on.
  2. Stridex Red Box - I’ve been using these for like…. 7 years and didn’t know they were on and poppin’. My mom tossed my brother and I our own jars to help with our acne. They really helped and my skin had no beef with it. I was even using them daily with no problem (you know outside of my skin being dry as hell already and not moisturizing properly but no biggie /s). I currently use these under my arms after a shower since every deodorant I’ve ever used except for one has caused these painful knots under my armpits and doing this helps manage things.
  3. Either a stick of cocoa butter or some shea butter to moisturize - Honestly if I ever want to go bare bones I might just go back to this. I had no complaints or issues with just moisturizing with either of these, I just didn't do it enough. I use to just smear a stick of cocoa butter over my face before leaving out during the winter and that was perfect. Hmm…..
Now, I didn’t know anything about any skincare subreddits so I didn’t know the products I bought initially were popular. I just knew they were cheap, basic and supposed to be good for dry skin.
  1. Cerave Hydrating Cleanser - My first gentle cleanser. My skin and wallet loved it so much for like the first month. Then all hell broke loose and it felt like acid was being smeared around my face every time I used it. I started getting clogged pores and I kept trying to make it work but eventually stopped using it completely. I gave it to my brother to use as a hydrating cleanser since he’s going through puberty and needed something gentle and hydrating on his dry skin while it went through its own hormonal hell changes. He likes it but made a point to tell me what the color and texture looks like when I first passed it off to him.
  2. Thayer’s Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Rose and Aloe - I don’t remember why exactly I stopped using this. Maybe I got bored with it. I have no complaints about it and I’m pretty sure it helped with my CC’s and hormonal acne but I passed it off to a friend with oily skin and they loved it more than me.
  3. iUnik Vitamin Hyaluronic Acid Vitalizing Toner - I think this is the other product that my skin had a sensitivity to the niacinamide in. It was a really hydrating toner, viscous asf and made my skin really “plump,” but it randomly started stinging my skin and even after cutting out Cerave for months, it still stung my skin so sis got trashed.
  4. Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion - My first real moisturizer. Though looking back it wasn’t moisturizing enough on its own, I loved using this until my skin became sensitized and this burned too. A recent discussion I had with someone about how the niacinamide in Cerave products burns some peoples skin made me go back and test this out on patches of skin on my face. It no longer burns so I think maybe they were right and the reason it felt like all of Cerave products (even the ones without niacinamide) were burning my face was because I used them after the cleanser that did. Niacinamide may have been the culprit in the cleanser and another product I’ll get into below but it doesn’t seem to burn me in other products so who knows.
  5. Biore Rich Watery UV Essence - I stumbled across this during one of many “Sunscreens for dark skin”/”Sunscreens that won’t show a white cast on darker skin” google searches. It was my first real sunscreen and honestly, I felt like a boss ass bitch when I used it. I could just smear this on and go about my day and not have to feel like I had 20 pounds of sticky goopy sunscreen on my face. Unfortunately, the alcohol in it dried my already dry skin out so I had to put this pretty little blue bottle on the shelf to use on my body until it emptied. The fragrance in it is kind of strong but lemon/orange fragrance doesn’t seem to bother my face (or should I say my nose because if I’m being completely honest, it’s the only thing on my face sensitive to fragrance). Odds are, it’s probably still on the shelf gathering dust since I replaced it with another sunscreen I use on my body.
  6. CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM SPF 30 - I really hated this sunscreen. It pilled so damn badly no matter what I did and I just don’t understand what went wrong when making this product. The whitecast was really minimal and I could honestly ignore it if it weren’t for the constant white flakes it left all over my skin.
When I realized my skin was nope-ing the hell out of Cerave, I decided I was going to focus on products geared toward sensitive skin and healing (as you can probably tell by all of the centella asiatica based products)
  1. Etude House Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner - A welcome change to all the havoc my skin had been through. Though it wasn’t super hydrating or moisturizing, I didn’t buy it for that purpose. I wanted something to help soothe all the irritation and this definitely did that. When I wanted moisture, I’d drop some squalane oil into it and was good to go. After my skin healed up, I decanted it into a mist bottle until I used it up. I might repurchase it if my skin ever goes through hell again.
  2. Etude House Soon Jung 10 Free Moist Emulsion - I bought this to use as an additional hydrating step since I was traveling to a more drier state for a few weeks and was concerned about my skin drying out more than it already was. It was really lightweight but a bit moisturizing. I initially bought it in a travel size and then a full sized bottle, the latter of which was gifted to a friend when I phased it out of my routine.
  3. Reddy Cerassol Cica Cream & Reddy Cerassol Cica Ampoule - I grouped these two together as my feelings about both are remotely the same. My nose could not get past the damn bergamot smell for me to actually enjoy how hydrating and moisturizing these products were. I used them for all of one week and just resorted to constantly smearing on the EH SJ emulsion throughout the day.
  4. Neogen Dermalogy Real Cica Pad - I’m finally near the bottom of the jar of these and I got them in July. I only use them on lazy days, low-spoon days or during travel since I’ve been steering away from using cotton pads. I have no complaints about these. They’re refreshing to use, I love the smell and they’re moderately hydrating. If my skin were more normal, I could prob use them alone as a toner step but alas I have a desert face and I need layers. If Neogen made these into a toner, I’d totally just but the toner (as if I need any more damn toners).
  5. Etude House Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream - Honestly the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. I really wish EH would just make this in a bigger tube. So far I’ve loved the entire damn line and I’ve talked about it so much I feel I deserve to be sponsored or something. It’s so moisturizing and soothing and my skin adores it. I could smear this on and go the whole day without worry. Flakes who? I don’t know her.
  6. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Serum - Like the Cerave products, Thayers toner, and Biore sunscreen, I didn’t know so many damn people were into this brand. I came across it on some youtube video and saw the price point and as a broke college student, I silently prayed I could just buy a couple of their products and never have to look elsewhere. Yet here we are, four months after I bought this and this is still the only TO product I’ve tried. 2019 might be different since I have some ideas on what I want to add (oh boy). Anyways, I started using this upon realizing that the Stridex pads I had dug out of the closet and started using were definitely from 2006…. Yikes. My skin was fine and all but I wasn’t comfortable continuing to use them after knowing they were old as hell. This serum basically does the same damn thing. I just use it as a spot treatment and it helps manage what acne pops up, clear up my CC’s and de-clog my nose.
  7. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Cream Cleanser - I got this from Marshall’s and it burned my face and smelled like alcohol and I stopped using it immediately. I should check to see if there’s any niacinamide in it. I cross checked the ingredients with the Cerave cleanser and don’t recall anything sticking out that wasn’t already in my other products.
  8. Acure Argan Oil - Too greasy. Didn’t really sink in. Great in my hair though.
  9. Sioris Cleansing Me Softly Milk Cleanser - The goddamn bergamot smell. Returned immediately. Didn’t pass go. Didn’t collect $200 dollars and for damn sure didn’t put it on my face.
And now we’re onto the products that I’ve tried in the last four months. We’ll start with what didn’t work.
  1. Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid (Old Formulation) - I heard a lot of good stuff about this product for dry and dehydrated skin that I’ve been side-eyeing the hell out of seeing alcohol so high up on the list, so I found a one ounce travel size to try and upon opening it up and taking a whiff, I knew it was a no from me dog. I knew there was bergamot oils or extracts in it and I still played myself but wanting to try it. It felt nice on my hand but I couldn’t bring myself to even patch test it. I really want to try the new formulation of the cream but I’m afraid of how “herbal” the scent is. The super “fun” part is that I ended up with six 1 oz bottles I didn’t want even though when I bought it, the listing only said there was one. Thankfully they found good homes except for the one I opened which is now on a shelf until I figure out what to do with it.
  2. Banila Co Miss Flower and Mr. Honey Cream - So I bought sample sizes of this fancy ass vaseline and I was, to say the least, underwhelmed and overwhelmed at the same time. Underwhelmed because of how little it actually does both as a moisturizer and as an occlusive (I tried using it as a both in different testing periods), but overwhelmed by how strong the honey fragrance is. It actually gave me a headache and now I have five more sample jars sitting with the rest of my skincare mocking me because I made the dumb decision to buy six since it was cheaper than just buying one (“what if I like it and have to wait another month to get a new one?”). You were foolish and now you look goofy sis.
  3. Klairs Rich Moist Face Soap - Surprisingly, the essential oil at the bottom of the ingredients list didn’t irritate my nose but the soap stung my face. Now I use it as a regular body soap and I love it. It smells amazing and that’s all I need in a body soap. So technically this worked but not for its intended purpose.
  4. CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion - I bought this while waiting on the Black Girl Sunscreen (mentioned below) to come in the mail and passed it off to my brother. It is lightweight and doesn’t leave a cast. I just didn’t like the smell or how small the bottle was (1.7 ounces).
And finally, the products that are in my current collection that I rotate through
  1. Stratia Soft Touch 10% Mandelic Acid Serum - My first AHA. I bought a decant of it in order to test the waters with chemical exfoliation and although it worked well and didn’t irritate my skin, it’s currently winter so I’ve stopped the use of actives. I’ll probably stick to this as my only form of AHA and not go further as I don’t want to mess around and mess my skin up. I don’t even need an AHA at this point but this is nice for acne and PIH so I may just use it as a spot treatment rather than all over until the weather gets back to being humid and warm come spring.
  2. Stratia Liquid Gold - I can understand the hype behind this. Oddly enough, I really love the smell of this even though it just smells… lotion-y. I currently use it as a booster for my moisturizers rather than layering it alone because this puppy was $24 and I’m gonna make it s t r e t c h. I’d like to say that this was some magical cure for my dry skin but nah she’s still dry. This has just helped curve the dryness for longer. I probably won’t repurchase it since in a perfect world my budget for a skincare product would be like $20 and I don’t feel I necessarily need it. I’m also really glad I bought it after the repackaging because I definitely dropped this and cracked the airless pump bottle slightly. If it were the glass bottle this would have shattered like my hopes and dreams.
  3. Matsuyama Hadauru Moisturizing Infusion Balancing Toner - I keep trying to phase this out of my routine for no real reason except that I want to try new things sometimes but realistically, this is one of my favorite products of what I’ve purchased this year. It’s a nice ceramide toner that leaves my skin visibly moisturized and hydrated. As long as I remember to continuously apply several layers when I do my routine, it really contributes to my skin maintaining hydration and moisture throughout the day. It really helped combat the flakes brought on by the winter weather and odds are, in the end, I’ll keep this as my sole toner.
  4. Matsuyama Hadauru Moisturizing Cream - I didn’t want to buy the supposed Holika Holika Good Cera cream since it has essential oils at the bottom and I’ve learned my lesson (for now) to save myself a headache. This is a nice cream, it isn’t necessarily rich but it has a lightweight pudding texture to it. I prefer to use this during humid hot weather when my skin doesn’t need as much moisture as it does now in the winter. It still doesn’t replace the EH SJ cream but it could still sit at the table with us.
  5. Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 - This is a nice, moisturizing sunscreen. My only true complaint is that it’s too thick for me to want to wear every day on top of the other products in my routine, but I could also skip everything except a toner and just use this since it’s both moisturizing and occlusive at the same time. Right now it’s a body sunscreen but when I move up north, it might make it back into my regular routine when the winter rolls around and my skin is faced with below freezing temperatures and snow. It also has a sunscreen-y smell that I could live without but it’s sunscreen so I can’t be mad at it for smelling as I expected it to.
  6. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - So this is the first cleanser I’ve used this year that I’ve gotten to love and adore. I have literally nothing to complain about when it comes to this product (except for Glossier’s “bougie” ass price). I love it so much that I almost - ALMOST - fell for Glossier’s BS. I love the rose scent and it leaves my skin so hydrated, a beautiful change from everything it’s gone through when it comes to cleansers this year. As long as it stays in stock, I won’t be buying another cleanser. This one is it.
  7. Rosehip seed oil - I took the label off my bottle because, well it looked ugly, so I don’t know the brand of this but I got it from Marshall’s. There’s also sweet-almond oil in this but regardless, I love this oil. I use to just put a few dainty drops on my skin but that wasn’t doing anything and I wasn’t making a dent in the bottle. Now I take enough to smear all over and massage in before moisturizing and it’s the best. I don’t think it’s done anything for my acne scars of this annoying spot of hyperpigmentation near my mouth, but it’s helped with the dryness without making me greasy so I love it a lot.
  8. I’m From Honey Cream - I got this during Wishtrend’s Black Friday sale just so I could get free shipping. It’s a pretty rich cream and so far it feels pretty damn moisturizing. I haven’t been using it long enough to be confident in my feelings about it, but I think it’s nice. I plan on decanting it into an airless pump because today I dropped my Matsuyama Hadauru cream that I’d put in a jar and saw my life flash before my eyes and don’t want to go through that again.
  9. Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ - I haven’t used this much since I’ve been working night shifts and staying home so I haven’t been getting more than 10 minutes of sun exposure but on days that I have used this, it makes my skin feel really soft and adds a little moisturizer. I love the fact that the bottle is almost 3 ounces because I’m sick of all these tiny ass sunscreens. It’s definitely cosmetically elegant so it doesn’t feel like I’m slathering a heavy cream on my face and it has a slight citrusy smell but I can’t exactly tell. Regardless I like it and I’ll continue to use it.
  10. Hanskin Hyaluron Skin Essence - I really didn’t need to buy this but that pretty much sums up a lot of my purchases this year. This is a nice hydrating toner. Although watery, it still feels and looks viscous compared to my other toner. I use this on really busy days the most since I can put like two layers and be set. I don’t think it’s anything suuuuuper special, especially not to pay $40 for, but I only paid $20 and for 300ml I can make room in my routine for it. Currently, when I have the time to do a full routine, I like to layer my other toner four times and this one three times before using my rosehip seed oil. I never thought about using two toners in a routine and if I didn’t buy this one in the first place I probably would never have done it but I like this method a lot and it definitely helps with my dehydration a lot.
After a year, my skin has gone from dry and dehydrated regularly to more normal with some dryness and dehydration in certain areas depending upon the day, the weather, and any changes I make to my skin. I think I’ve sketched out what my standard routine will be and I have an idea of what I plan to add to it in the future. I definitely plan to enforce a damn no-buy on myself in the coming year but all of my purchases have been so spaced out that realistically it’s had no real effect on me financially. I’m just dramatic and regretful. Anyways, here’s my current routine:
AM:
  1. Cold water rinse + gentle exfoliation with washcloth
  2. Either the Hanskin toner, the Matsuyama toner or both
  3. Rosehip seed oil
  4. Etude House Soon Jung Cream
  5. Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence when needed
PM
  1. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Rosehip seed oil
  4. Either the EH SJ cream or the I’m From Honey cream mixed with Aquaphor
I’m currently awaiting the Missha Near Skin Total Ceramide Cream to come in the mail and if meets my standards, I’ll probably stick to just that and the EH cream.
The only products I plan on adding to my routine in 2019 are The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion (but only after I get this moisturizing down), The Ordinary's Amino Acid + b5 and a Vitamin C serum. I’m thinking the Melano CC just to spot treat my hyperpigmentation. Either way, I’ll probably be adding them six months apart from one another and not allowing myself to buy anything else it isn’t just me repurchasing parts of my routine lol.
Anyways this took me three hours and I was supposed to be asleep four hours ago, so I hope y’all enjoyed my 3AM skincare ramblings.

[Sidenote: Damn this is a lot of AB. I didn't even realize it.]

[routine help] why is my skin so rough

http://imgur.com/a/47TuuJt
I have no idea how to explain it, it's just shitty skin, and I hate it. I have that problem of "large pores" around my cheeks, but I don't think it's simply genetic.
I remember a few years ago I had really bad spots above my cheeks near my nose and I used a rough sponge to "exfoliate" the area. The next day I had 2 scabs either side of my nose... But the spots went away - its like I literally scraped off the skin and it regenerated, the skin under the scabs was pale (I'm black) as when you scrape your skin, and new skin is generated. I'm certain the holes in my skin above my cheeks are a result of this, it's in the very specific areas. Is this permanent? I've heard this also happens to people who have ring worm
I have spots literally all over, but they're not really pimples. A lot are "white heads" I believe. And then on my chin / below my hairline I seem to be getting hair follicles trying to get out. For a long time I thought would squeeze them out thinking what was coming out was hardended/puss, but then I realised it was literally hair follicles (I could see the tiny hair stubs at the end of to the white follicles. This happens on my cheeks as well, in the area either side of my nose, which is weird because there's not much hair there. Maybe these aren't hair follicles and I'm stupid, but it happens a lot in my beard area, and below my hair line (scalp).
There must be something fundamental I'm doing wrong, I'm sure people with good skin aren't applying all of these crazy products that I hear about online. I understand there may also be an element of genetics.
A few months ago I read this post on reddit that advices not using any products on the face and only using cold water to wash the face. I tried this, every morning I would wahs my body with hot water, and then I could exfoliate with a face flannel and then dry off. I then started using lotion on my face because using no products simply resulted in me having visible dry skin on my face which was not a look. I did this for over a month and then switched it up.
For about a month or two I've been using a exfoliation mitt that goes over the hand (from amazon) after my shower (with warm water) to try and clear my pores and then removing the mitt and applying a facial scrub with my hands right after wards, before washing it off and drying with a towel. I then applied standard lotion (vaseline) and that was me done. But this doesn't work either.
A few days ago, I was recommended moisturising with baby lotion so I bought some and replaced the body lotion with baby oil, only on my face. The rest of the regimen is the same, I wanted to see if baby oil actually works, it makes sense that it might as its so light, as to not harm a baby.
But I was speaking to my brother today, who has better skin than me, who said baby oil isn't a good facial moisturiser on its own, it should go over some other form of lotion. He said cocoa butter (Palmers tub) would do good. I used to use this a few years ago but my skin wasn't good then either...
I really don't want to go and but extreme facial products with random acids / drugs in them - I will if I have to. But are there some basic things I'm doing wrong in my morning regimen?
When I was younger I picked my spots which I'm sure has left scarring. Nowadays I completely refrain from touching my skin. But it's still not working
Sometimes before I sleep, if I see I have spots / white heads I could pop, I wi use the exfoliation mitt, followed by the facial scrub cleanse (freederm), and then Dry off. I then go to sleep (with my skin dried out from the facial washing + towel) - in hopes this will help the skin heal - instead of having oily products getting in the way or even getting inside my pores, causing them to clog / more spots formjng.
I'm pretty desperate... My fore arms are hurting after typing this on my phone...
Also in 19 and I have wrinkles on my forehead and the classic smile wrinkle from the corner of the nostrils to the corner of the mouth.
Why me ? What am I missing. I was never taught any skin care as a kid, and I don't want to ask my brother or sister (who's skin isn't really any better)

just another success story

man its been a long road to this..
i started doing research on this subject back in December. maybe even November. i was so tired of using Harrys razors and having brek outs. my dad never taught me anything about shaving. hell, my hair was so blonde and thin i never cared much about shaving.
fast forward to Christmas. i told my GF i wanted a double edge razor. she got me a electric razor a year or two ago for Xmas. because that's what i wanted. and i used it. some. now i just use it to manscape. i don't use it on my face.
fast forward to a month ago. first DE shave. awful. i break out. i got hives. i rub a bunch of stuff on my face. its all bad. i went to the doctor (some of you know) and got some steroids to take the redness away.
fast forward to last night. my face has healed. redness is just about gone. i have identified that my brush is shit (1 best seller on amazon!) and that next time i will later by hand.
well...i did it. i took my time. i finished my medication. my skin looks good. i have been applying Vaseline w/ cocoa butter every night. i lathered by hand. although i lathered the LATHER by brush. i went with the grain. once. well...i went with the grain a few times with my problem areas. but once only on my face. one pass. i only shaved where there was lather (which is stupid to say out loud but its a real thing).
and now...i have to say last night i had the best shave of my life. it was just me. taylor of bond street soap. edwin jagger de89. and i couldnt be more happy. i tried telling my girlfriend finally!! its taken a helluva lot of work and 3 or 4 shaves to get here but i got it.
anyways....no one seems to care but since you guys are so nerdy about this stuff i thought i would log away just another success story. i cant wait til friday to get paid so i can invest in a synthetic brush from maggard and i hope to start shaving every few days instead of every 7 days like i have because of my skin acting up. absolutely NO razor burn this time and it felt brilliant.
this is what i worked so hard for.

[FOR SALE ONLY] MAC, ABH Dipbrow, OCC Lip Tar, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Lorac, NARS, Benefit, Smashbox, TheBalm, Stila, NYX, Color Tattoos, Milani Rose Blush, misc. drugstore, skincare, etc.

Hi, everyone! I just moved across the country & am looking to make some extra money & destash. I've added a few new things (indicated separately at the top of my list) and anything that's in photos but not on the list was sold on my last post.
Shipping starts at $2.50 & I'd prefer to bundle, so I'm asking for a $20 minimum purchase (but am open to discussing smaller purchases depending on the items). I also bubble-wrap obsessively to ensure that your product gets to you in good condition. I have shipped internationally before, so I'm open to that as well if it is cost effective. Payments accepted through Paypal and if the buyer requests an invoice/non-gift option, they are responsible for the little fee. I've been selling on here for about a year & a half and I'll link my flair below. Most things are new with some lightly used but that's all indicated below. Let me know if you have questions or need details on any item. I'd prefer that interested buyers comment here first & then we can take it to PM to discuss details (as opposed to sending me a PM off the bat). Everything is best offer and I hate coming up with prices so if you're comfortable doing so, please give an offer (if you aren't, though, let me know & I can come up with something!) I think that's all the boring stuff -- onto the goodies!

[misc] Shelfie + Routine!

https://imgur.com/gallery/G2f3B
So, maybe it’s more like a shelfie and a deskie? Vanitie? 😝 But here are all my products I’ve accumulated over the last few months! I completely overhauled my skincare routine from a more Western routine (acne cleansers, physical exfoliators, witch hazel toners, a lot of Murad and Philosophy) to a 10 step. It’s really improved my skin, and I don’t have nearly as many problems with my eyes stinging with these products as I did before. All in all I’m very happy!
Here’s my routine for my normal, slightly dehydrated, hormonal acne skin:
Morning: Cleanse (COSRX Good Morning Low pH Gel Cleanser) Vitamin C (Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence) Toner (Hada Labo Gokujyun Moist Lotion OR Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion, x4) Essence (COSRX Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence, 3 pumps) Eye Oil (Sheamoisture 100% Argan Oil) Moisturize (Hada Labo Shirojyun Milk) Sunscreen (Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk SPF 50+ PA++++ OR Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Mineral Lotion) Lip Balm (Sun Bum Key Lime SPF 30 Lip Balm + Vaseline Lip Therapy Aloe)
Night: Point Makeup Removal (Simple Water Boost Micellar Water) First Cleanse (Botanic Farms Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbet) Second Cleanse (Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk) Actives (COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid, COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid) First Essence (COSRX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence) Toner (Hada Labo Gokujyun Moist Lotion OR Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion, x7) Essence (Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence) Sheet Mask (Freeset Donkey Milk Aqua OR My Beauty Diary Black Pearl, every other day, excess essence patted on the following day) Lip Exfoliator (e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator) Eye/Lip Oil (Sheamoisture 100% Argan Oil) Sleeping Pack (COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Mask) Lip Balm (Sheamoisture 100% Argan Oil + Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter)
Note that there are hair and body products included in the pictures that obviously aren’t part of my face routine, and there are also a couple of filler products that I don’t use but keep displayed to make the set up more visually appealing 😛
There are also still a few products I’d still like to try (Benton’s Snail Bee line and some CeraVe and The Ordinary products, primarily), but for now this is my finalized routine. Like I said, I’m very pleased with it!
Any questions about anything, feel free to ask!

Ok, don’t laugh: I’ve been using Murray’s Beeswax as a moisture layer.

The product I’m talking about is meant for dreadlock maintenance but recently found my brother’s jar when moisturizing after a shower and figured why not. Compared to what I used- Cocoa Butter Vaseline, which was kinda greasy - it was the right kind of thick for my feet, which has gone through hell and back for eight years. Yes, I knew it was for hair. I’ve put worse things on the problem spots in hopes of relief.
How.Ever. The skin where the Beeswax covered dries up instantly or splits in new spots making new cuts before I get to itch. Between application and instadry takes about 30 to 45 min, so applying this before bed was a good idea until it wasn’t. For the time being I have to go back to the Vaseline(but laid on THICK) just to get any sort of relief. I have yet another patch test from a new allergist in two weeks so hopefully I can get to the bottom of this.
The point: does anyone know a good-textured layer to put on top of your moisturizer that doesn’t dry out in record time? I’m thinking something similar to Eucerin’s Original Healing cream(I’ve been using that but I tear through a jar in a week to keep the illusion of comfort. The richness gets oily and I feel like my skin thins out over a few hours.) Nothing from Cetaphil or Aveeno works and something in Aquaphor ointment makes me itch worse.

[SALE] OCC Lip Tars, Benefit, Bare Minerals, Smashbox, Stila, Lorac, Urban Decay, Too Faced, MAC, NYX, ELF, Color Tattoos, Milani Rose Blush, tons of skincare and more!

Hi there! Back again & looking to destash :) I've added a few new things (indicated separately at the top of my list) and anything that's in photos but not on the list was sold on my last post.
For domestic shipping, I can usually ship two-to-three times a week (USPS First Class w/tracking) but for international, I can only ship on Saturdays since the post office is only open the same hours as my work schedule.
As an aside, I do work M-F 8:30AM-5PM PST so if I don't respond to you right away, it's because I'm working but will do so ASAP once I'm available :)

[Skin concern] [Routine hel] NEW TO SCA! I need help with a lot of things regarding my face, hair, and body. I'm overwhelmed and frustrated. I'm dealing with uneven skin tone, blemishes, acne scars, dramatic hair loss, and itchy skin

I'm so so overwhelmed with all the skincare tips and products that I've seen over the past few months when looking for advice. Someone suggested coming on here so I'm giving it a shot.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Re: Face
My current routine involves removing make-up, washing face, and using moisturizer. I exfoliate my face once a week with St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I also use TactuPump to deal with my acne. My moisturizer is Olay. My daily cleanser is Aveeno. I sometimes use Neutrogena's dark circle corrector.
Recently, I've been curious to try the charcoal masks that I keep seeing everywhere since I read that they help deep cleanse your pores and get rid of blemishes.
1.) What are some good products or DIY face masks I can use to brighten my skin, even my skin tone, get rid of acne scars and blemishes
2.) Any suggestions for natural make-up removers? I've heard that coconut oil is good, but since it's comedogenic, it might clog up your pores. I also read that milk is good
3.) Good charcoal face masks to use? I want to use one that isn't painful to peel off (also mask doesn't have to be peel off) and one that doesn't rip out my face hair. I'm really scared to mess with my hair on my face because I don't want it to grow back faster and thicker
4.) I bought one of those microdermabrasion devices a while ago. I have yet to use it. I plan to start soon. Is once a week good? And can I still use the apricot scrub mid-week?
5.) At what age can you start using anti-aging products? I'm 26. I've been told that's too young
Note: my skin type is fairly normal though I suspect because of TactuPump, it's on the sensitive side. I'm also an Indian female if that makes a difference
Re: Hair
I'm absolutely terrified that I'm going bald. I've experienced dramatic hair loss over the past seven months. It's frightening. I have also lost 15lbs and have become even skinnier. I'm 5'7 and weight 115lbs. I used to be around 130lbs. I started losing weight and hair during last summer. At first I chalked up my hair loss to low iron levels. My doctor prescribed Palafer with Vitamin C to bring them up, and they are now at a decent level. But my hair loss is still ongoing
When I was younger, I used to have really thick hair, and I remember using coconut oil when I was a little kid. I stopped when I was like 11. My hair thinned out over the years, but it wasn't anything alarming. But over the past seven months, it's just been terrible. You can my scalp when I part my hair one way or another. I'm getting super self-conscious. Every single time I run my fingers through my hair, hair always falls out
I tried to start up again with coconut oil for four weeks. Once a week, I would put coconut oil all over my hair and wrap it in a t-shirt, sleep with it overnight, and wash my hair out in the morning. But that didn't help with anything. I still lost hair especially when I would run coconut oil through my hair using my hands. Hair would still fall out.
My doctor prescribed me Rogaine for women recently, and I'm going to try it out. I also take Biotin supplements geared for hair and nail growth nearly daily. My nails are growing just fine. I just wish my hair would.
Also, my hair is super super dry. I use conditioner after I shampoo (which I do twice a week), but it doesn't do anything to moisturize my hair. The shampoo and conditioner I use is Ogyx Caffeine and Niacin that is meant to curb hair fallout. I have a split end problem as well. I'm going to get into the habit of trimming my hair every couple of months.
So for my hair, I'm looking for any hair masks or products I can use (without harsh chemicals) that will stimulate hair growth, reduce breakage, moisturize my hair, give it volume, and have thicker hair. I don't just want the appearance of thicker hair. I actually want thicker hair. Someone suggested putting egg in my hair for an hour to help with hair elasticity
Re: body
I moisturize my skin pretty much everyday. Every single time after taking a shower, I always moisturize yet these past few months, I've had dry itchy skin. Last week, my entire left thigh randomly turned red and itchy. I have no idea what is happening or why this is happening. It's freaking me out. My arms randomly get itchy or my chest or stomach. Or my back. I used Vaseline cocoa butter for months. I switched to using Eucerin's complete repair like two months. It hasn't helped at all, and it's just so fucking frustrating!!! I don't know why any of this is happening. I don't get how people who don't moisturize their skin at all don't have these issues, but I do. Like nothing I'm doing is helping. I use ice cubes to calm my skin down, but I can't always do that like when I'm at work
Basically, I'm just freaked out about what's happening to my appearance with my hair being the most concerning. I used to have great hair, and now it's dry, dull, and thin as fuck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to suggest foods I can eat as well to help with my issues.
I live in Ontario, Canada. I'd prefer to have product suggestions that are on the reasonable side, but I'm willing to go out of my budget if the product is very effective and worth it
Thanks in advance!

[Routine Help] newbie starting to build a routine!

I've decided I am gonna finally get serious about taking care of my skin. I would love feedback on my routine and some help with my questions if possible!
About my skin - Am 24, no wrinkles yet, Chinese-American with tan skin. My skin is not sensitive and doesn't need particularly gentle or fragrance free products. I know this is blasphemy here but I never wear SPF - I can literally count the number of times I've worn sunscreen on one hand! - and I still wonder how necessary it is for someone like me with natural pigment. During the work week, I drive 20 min to work and spend the whole day in an office save for 30 min outside walking to and from lunch spots. Does that little sun exposure really require SPF? Regardless, I will start incorporating SPF 30 into my morning routine because of my AHA and retinol usage.
Problems: I have had closed comedones on my forehead for YEARS, a shiny t zone, scars from childhood chicken pox on both sides of my face, uneven skin tone between my forehead and the rest of my face (I swear to god my forehead is sometimes almost gray), and at least a few small whiteheads present all the time. The whiteheads crop up most often in the space between my eyebrows, on my chin, or around my mouth/nose. (Never on cheeks.)
So up until two weeks ago, I had literally no routine. I washed my face with dermae gel purifying cleanser maybe three times a week, used no moisturizer, and wear no makeup.
Here is the routine I've been using the past 2 weeks:
AM - Garnier pink cap Micellar water on cotton pad wiped all over face - Apple cider vinegar toner (2 parts distilled water and one part ACV) spritzed on my hands, then dabbed all over my face with my hands. Let dry for a minute - Cosrx BHA blackhead power liquid (three pumps, spread with fingers over face focusing on forehead). Let dry five minutes - Rich Radiance Facial oil (ingredients: Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Asorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Niacinamide, Retinol (Vitamin A), Arbutin, Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D), Phenoxyethanol, Parfum). A few drops spread with fingers over face. - no sunscreen, no makeup. (Will start Eucerin SPF 30 sunscreen tomorrow!)
PM - Garnier Micellar water on cotton pad - ACV toner dabbed on face, let dry a minute - Paula's Choice skin perfecting 8% AHA gel / CVS knock off of RoC deep wrinkle correxion retinol cream (I alternate days) - let sit for ten minutes - spot treat any pimples with raw honey - a few drops of rich radiance facial oil
Other info - once a week I do the Aztec secret mask mixed with ACV. I'm planning on starting daily biotin pills (my hair seems to be falling out at an alarming rate!)
So here are my questions. It's been two weeks and my skin looks a bit better, fewer breakouts, but still oily t zone with uneven skin tone and CC's. I recently bought the CeraVe PM lotion and Benton snail mucin/bee venom serum - how do I start incorporating/at what point in the routine? Should the CeraVe lotion replace my facial oil? I should apply serum after the AHA/ retinol / Bha and before moisturizefacial oil, right? I also own Eucerin SPF 30 face moisturizer - when I start wearing it, do I just need to put it on once in the morning and then I'm good for the rest of the day (assuming I'm in an office and only leave for lunch at noon?) What do people use Vaseline for at night? I would like to start oil cleansing at night as well, and I bought a pack of microfiber towels to assist with that. Does anyone have any problems with microfiber towels being stained by oil? Does OCM require rubbing the oil in small circles on my face, or can I just apply the oil in a layer to my face, wait a minute, then wipe it off? What mixtures of oil do you use, and what bottle do you put it in? (I am thinking half sunflower, half EVOO, and a few drops of tea tree oil for help with acne in a travel size bottle.) Can AHAs/ BHAs be used when my face is still damp with water or toner, and how long should I wait after applying each before putting on moisturizer? If my t zone is oily, should I avoid putting facial oil there to moisturize? Has anyone had good results using the forea Luna vibrating facial brush to help with serum/AHA/ BHA absorption? Would adding Differin to this routine become overkill? Can I add Vit C serum to my AM routine, or will the niacinimide in the CeraVe at night cancel it out? Lastly - can Micellar water fully replace cleanser? I like the convenience of it, and I would love if I could cut out almost entirely a cleanser that I have to rinse off.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide! I am switching jobs soon and applying to school again, and I thought it was a good time to try to get my life a bit more in order - taking care of my skin, figuring out a makeup routine that works for me, losing weight and working out, meditating, drinking more water and eating well, taking vitamins, etc.

When it comes to lockdown basics, nothing beats Vaseline Petroleum Jelly for versatility! Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is made from 100 percent triple-purified petroleum jelly that locks moisture into the skin, moisturizing it to repair and relieve dryness, but there’s so much more to this wonder jelly.. If you’ve got Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, you’ve got 101 uses in one small jar. If you’re wondering how to use Vaseline for hair growth due to split ends, we recommend applying a small amount of Vaseline on the tips of your hair daily. Vaseline will act to lock-in moisture and nourish your hair, but applying too much Vaseline to your hair can make it look greasy. Be careful with how much Vaseline you use on your hair. Cocoa butter for hair is a popular choice for many people, perhaps due to its deliciously sweet aroma that’s faintly reminiscent of a creamy chocolate bar. Cocoa butter is also rife with fatty acids, and when applied to the hair, skin, and nails, it does a wonderful job of coating, sealing, and protecting their surfaces. Hi BlackStar, I'd recommend NOT using anything Vaseline based on your scalp (unless you have no hair). :) Vaseline is not water-soluble which means it is near impossible to get out of hair. I was desperate a few months ago and used Vaseline on a few bad spots on my scalp, not realizing it wasn't water-soluble. Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, is a good, cost-effective moisturizer for dry skin on the body. When it comes to the face, it can be good for dry skin, but you need to use it properly to avoid acne Vaseline® Healing Jelly Cocoa Butter locks in moisture to help dull, dry skin heal with a light cocoa fragrance. Keeps your dry skin healthy-looking and glowing all day. Contains cocoa butter, which is known to nourish your skin. Gentle on your skin, dermatologist tested, and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) It can also help alleviate scalp itching and irritation, and may help prevent chemical damage. Cocoa butter is a fat and helps replenish moisture to the scalp and hair. Individuals with fine hair might benefit from using cocoa butter, which can infuse volume and strength into the strands if used regularly. Cocoa butter is a type of fat that comes from the processing of cocoa beans. It is the primary ingredient of chocolate, and many people use it as a topical treatment for its potential skin benefits. There’s no scientific evidence to support the popular claim that Vaseline makes your hair grow faster. It might protect your hair against breakage and dryness, but it won’t encourage your hair Cocoa butter is a great helper from nature. It does wonders for your skin and also for your hair. If you are trying to let your hair grow, cocoa butter will help you keep it healthy and soft in the process. Much like coconut oil, cocoa butter has healing and softening properties that will make your hair healthy and shiny. Also, it smells delicious!
